Imphal, May 09 2025:
Angtha FC fought back and salvaged a late draw with ABA, Kshetrigao as UDO, Heingang played out a goalless draw with AIM, Khabam in today's matches of the ongoing 2nd Premier League 2025-26 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In the 12th and Group B match of the day, UDO who edged past KIYC by 2-1 goals in the previous match stood firm to deny hardworking AIM to see out the game 0-0 and shared a point apiece.
Meanwhile, in the 13th and a Group A match staged later in the day, ABA enjoyed a slender 1-0 first half lead but Angtha FC kept pressing for the equaliser which they ultimately got two minutes from time off a penalty kick.
It was an intense game with 7 players from across the two sides picking up yellow cards.
ABA who had beaten WAFA by a solitary goal in the previous encounter found the lead at the stroke of the 30th minute mark through Zahir Khan.
They managed to hold off Angtha FC charges for a major portion of the game and looked to seal all three points but a late foul proved costly as Irungbam Mahesh made the most of a resulting penalty kick to bring Angtha FC back into the game.
Despite efforts from both the sides to find the winner in the 9 added minutes the scoreline remained unchanged as defence stood tall forcing the two sides to split the points.
Sagolband United will play DM RAO in the next match tomorrow before Classic FA meet FC Raengdai later in the day.
