1st Thangting area block level volleyball tournament concludes

Imphal, December 07 2020: The 1st Thangting area block level volleyball tournament organized by Bunglon Youth Club in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Churachandpur at Bunglon village, Churachandpur district concluded today with thrilling final matches.

BYC lifted the champion's prize in the boys' category while Muolhoih Youth Club won the title in the girls' category, said BYC in a release.

In the girls' category final, Muolhoih Youth Club trounced Gothol YC with a straight (2-0) set.

Even as both sides produced fine plays, the young and energetic Muolhoih players overwhelmed their rivals in two sets.

Meanwhile, the closely contested boys' final match saw host .

Bunglon YC clinching a narrow 3-2 set win over Bijang Gangte YC.

Bijang Gangte YC registered a comprehensive win of the first set.

Undaunted BYC players gathered strength and changed tactics and scripted two straight set wins.

At the same time, Bijang Gangte YC players displayed grit and determination.

After bouts of good spiking, blocking, attacking and of course sophisticated defending, the match ended in favour of BYC.

The winners walked away richer by Rs 7000 and a NYK certificate each while the runners-up received Rs 4000 and a NYK certificate each, the release said.

The tournament was organized from December 3, 2020 and 24 teams (12 teams each in the boys' and girls' category) competed in the tournament, it said.

The closing ceremony today was attended by N Ginpum Gangte, chief of Throiluok as the chief guest; Kamkhopau Singsit, Ex-Serviceman as the functional president; H Doungel, DYC, NYK Churachandpur and Ashon Kom, chief of Khoirentak Khuman as the guests of honour, it continued.
