Junior Boys' NFC : Manipur top Group A despite 1-1 draw with Telangana, reach semis

Manipur are into the semi-finals of the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy 2026-27 as Group A toppers despite playing out a 1-1 draw with Telangana in the final league match today at Bengaluru Football Stadium.
Having edged Assam 2-1 and beaten Keralam 1-0 in the first two league round matches, the State lads started confidently and found the breakthrough in the 35th minute with Heikrujam Jogesh making the most of a chance.
The lead was however cancelled out in the 50th minute with Faisal Khan Mustafa Khan netting the equaliser for Telangana in the 50th minute.
It was an end-to-end affair with both sides looking to assert their dominance and find a breakthrough, but neither team could convert their final chances, leaving the match to end in a 1-1 draw.
With the result Manipur finished on top with 7 points and eventually qualified for the semi-finals.
Manipur will play either Mizoram and Meghalaya in the semis.
In another Group A match, Keralam thumped Assam by 3-1 goals to finish Group A runners up.
