Newly constructed and restructured MSBA building inaugurated

Thongju AC MLA Thongam Biswajit who is also the president of the Manipur State Badminton Association (MSBA) has today inaugurated newly constructed and restructured building of the association at DM University campus.
The restructured MSBA building includes a multipurpose hall and newly appended guest rooms, lighting system, toilet blocks, hostels for boys and girls, administrative block and conference hall.
Speaking at the inauguration function, Thongam Biswajit said the newly constructed and restructured building of the association was realised with the collective efforts of sports enthusiasts from all quarters including bureaucrats and politicians.
The State has been producing eminent National and international badminton players for years, he noted while adding that the new building equipped with new facilities will further the cause and help produce more players in the future.
He maintained that the conference hall has been newly added to the building and the multipurpose hall can also be used as a hostel too.
To accommodate and cater players from far flung areas, guest rooms have also been newly added, he said while adding that new separate toilet blocks have also been constructed.
Financial resource, human resource and infrastructure resources are key to producing world class players, Biswajit who is also a veteran badminton player himself, said that the new structure will help meet the infrastructure needs to some extent.
He also noted that fund raising programmes from time to time can also help cater financial resources to young players.
Crediting the association's commitment and dedication for the successful completion of the new building structures, he also highlighted the association's unwavering commitment to groom world class players.
Lauding world class shuttlers - M Meiraba, Priya, Dingku and Manjit who were groomed by the association, he also stressed on the need of frequent competitions and highlighted the plan to rope in world class coaches to produce more quality players from the State.
Welcoming suggestions from all sections to streamline and better the function of the association, he also sought support from all sections of the society to boost the sporting movement in the State.
Former Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, T Phulen also spoke on the avenues opened for successful sportspersons.
One can hold official post without appearing in competitive exams, he said while encouraging those specially weak in studies but good in sports to pursue sports and enjoy quotas and reservations in various sectors.
He also praised Th Biswajit for shouldering a big responsibility in successful construction of the new structures and the renewed badminton movement in the State under his leadership as the MSBA president.
ADGP, IK Muivah was also present at the occasion.
He also praised the strong sporting legacy of the State and expressed hope that the newly constructed structures will be instrumental in shaping and grooming more players.
