Imphal, December 31 2025: Manipur U-16 boys suffered an innings and 239-run loss to Bengal at Ravenshaw University Ground 1, Cuttack to close out the Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite Group C campaign winless.

Responding to Bengal's huge first innings total of 542/6 (declared), Manipur slumped to 90 all out in the first innings (50.5 overs) before getting dismissed for 123 runs in the second innings (55.5 overs).

Notably Tufan Roy scored an unbeaten 205 off 265 balls and forged a huge 362-run partnership of 444 balls with Souhardya Neogi who scored 184 off 218 balls, to help Bengal declared at 452/6 after Manipur won the toss and opted to field first.

For Manipur, S Bush (1/94), Rojer (1/65), Swabhiman (1/110), and Chingamba (1/50) shared a wicket apiece.

In the first innings for Manipur, W Maverick 20 off 45, Swabhiman 20 off 45, Philan 13 off 57 and Sanjenbam Indrakumar 13 not out off 70 managed double digit scores as Koushik Bouri (4/33), Triparna Samanta (3/10), Sayak Jana (2/4), and Akash Yadav (1/12) shared 10 wickets among them.

In the second innings, Sanjenbam Indrakumar led the scoring with 39 runs to his name followed by Md Zuned 23, Chingamba 17, Tyrus 14, and Maverick 13.For Bengal, Koushik Bouri (3/26) and Triparna Samanta (3/25) shared 6 wickets as Sayak Jana (2/31) and Uthsav Shukla (2/35) shared the other 4 wickets.
