Manipur women settle for Regu event silver, suffer quarter final exit in Quad event

Manipur women ended up securing a silver medal in the Regu competition before bowing out in quarterfinals of the Quad competition of the 35th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship 2025 that concluded today at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Madgaon, Goa.

In the women's regu final, Manipur went down 8-15, 17-15, 8-15 to All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) to settle for the runners up title.

It was the second silver medal for the team after finishing runners up in the Team event as well.

Yesterday, Manipur reached the final with a 15-4, 15-4 win over Delhi in the semi-final.

Earlier in the league round the State women's team defeated Kerala, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Odisha in straight sets before signing off with a 2-1 sets win over Goa in the last league match.

Manipur then defeated UP 15-5, 15-8 in the quarterfinal to set up a semi-final date with Delhi.

Meanwhile in the Quad event, Manipur suffered a 13-15, 15-12, 8-15 quarterfinal loss after a promising start in the league round.

Earlier in the league round, Manipur defeated West Bengal 15-4, 15-7; Tamil Nadu 15-2, 15-2; Rajasthan 15-5, 15-5; Kerala 15-12, 15-8 and Bihar 15-9, 15-7 .

Men's Campaign

Manipur men's team meanwhile ended up securing another bronze medal in the Quad event after the Regu event.

Manipur lost 9-15, 11-15 to Chhattisgarh before bouncing back to beat Rajasthan 15-11, 15-13; Assam 17-16, 15-13; Uttarakhand 15-9, 15-6; Maharashtra 17-14, 15-7 and Tamil Nadu 15-10, 15-11 in the remaining league matches to qualify for the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, Manipur beat Kerala 15-10, 6-15, 15-9 but slumped to a 11-15, 11-15 loss in the semifinals to Delhi to settle for the third medal after winning a Team event silver and a Regu event bronze.
