Imphal, December 25 2008: THE 19TH Senior National Fencing Championship organised by Manipur Fencing Association (MFA) under the aegis of Fencing Association of India (FAI) which commenced from December 21 concluded today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal. As the championship concluded, Manipur bagged the overall team champion�s title with 49 points altogether.

SSCB (Sevices) was in the second position with 34 points while Kerala in hot pursuit of SSCB was in the third position with 32 points altogether. Manipur won four gold, three silver and six bronze medal totalling to 13 medals in all. Manipur won the four gold in women�s foil, sabre individual, girls foil team and men�s sabre individual events. In today�s match of men�s sabre individual event, N Chingsomba of Manipur beat Ujjwal Gupta of Jammu and Kashmir and won gold.

Ujjwal Gupta and Ashwani of SSCB won the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the match of women�s epee individual event played today, Rerita of Manipur beat Shamipreet Kaur of Punjab ad won gold.
