RCA, PCC and AKSDO victorious as 4th MNCA Men's U19 One Day Trophy kicks off

RCA, Lilong; PCC, Mayaikoibi and AKSDO, Khangabok emerged victorious as the 4th edition of the MNCA Mens U19 One Day Trophy kick-started today at three different venues.
Zuned steers RCA to 128-run victory over CYCLONE RCA rode on half century knocks from Heibokmayum Albaz Hussain and Md Anush and Zuned's impeccable bowling performance to tame CYCLONE by 128 runs in the Group A opening match of the tournament at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground.
Albaz Hussain (72 off 90 balls; 7 fours), Md Anush (54 off 72 balls; 4 fours) and Zuned (49 off 25 balls; 4 fours and 3 sixes) gave RCA a solid start to the innings after CYCLONE chose to bowl first.
Md Safwan was unbeaten on 25 (off 11 balls; 2 fours and 1 six) with Nawas Sharif (1 not out off 1 ball) to help RCA finish the 37-over innings at 234/5.Maibam Napolian (2/54) and Ningthoujam Tomthin (1/32) were among the wickets for CYCLONE in this innings.
In reply, opener N Sidarth scored a 72-ball 65 studded with 7 fours and 2 sixes and did all within his power to keep things intact but he ran out of partner and the chase succumbed for 106 runs in 24.3 overs as Zuned wreaked havoc on the way to his 6-wicket haul (6/14 in 7.3 overs) while Heibokmayum Lucky Ahmed (2/16) and Farhan Ahmed (1/19) shared three wickets.
Zuned, who produced an allround show, was declared Player of the Match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, PCC registered a hardfought 1-wicket win over Blue Hawk, Khurai Lamlong to kick off their Group B league campaign on a winning note.
PCC won the toss and bundled out Blue Hawk for 143 runs in 32.5 overs by choosing to field first.
Lamnganba Nongmaithem, who came in at number 6 then anchored with an unbeaten 92 off 91 balls to take PCC to the winning 145/9 in 31 overs.
Thokchom Dhanaraj (27 off 20 balls), Moirangthem Romesh (26 off 43 balls) and Elangbam Surmala (22 off 15 balls) led the Blue Hawk scoring in the first innings that saw Simon Konthoujam claiming four wickets (4/34 in 6.5 overs) while Nongmaithem Lamnganba (2/13 in 8 overs), Chabungbam Yaikhomba (2/21 in 5 overs), and Laishram Nareshkanta (2/20 in 4 overs) shared 6 wickets.
In reply PCC had a stuttering start and slumped to 49/5 before Lamnganba came to the rescue and fired PCC to 145/9 in 31 overs despite losing partners in regular intervals.
M Romesh (3/28) was the pick of the Blue Hawk bowlers as Thokchom Dhanaraj (2/41) and Nongdamba Khunjamayum (2/11) picked two wickets apiece and Akoijam Dhitaraj (1/34) and Nandakishor (1/13) claimed a wicket apiece.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, AKSDO beat PTCC, Patsoi Part III by 5 wickets via VJD method.
Opting to bat first, PTCC slumped to 168 all out in 33.2 overs before rain interrupted AKSDO chase at 158/5 (24.5 overs) .
The target was revised at 158 in 35 overs and AKSDO were eventually declared player of the match.
