Manipur kick-start Sub-Junior girls' NFC campaign with 2-1 win against hosts Assam

Imphal, August 22 2025: Manipur yesterday kicked off their campaign in the Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship Tier I Group B with a 2-1 win over hosts Assam at Jorhat Stadium yesterday.

Thoudam Malemnganbi Devi (10') and Ahunwangliu Khengtamei (79') were on target in Manipur's victory as Kritika Hazowary scored the lone goal for the hosts in the 14th minute.

Manipur will play Tamil Nadu in the next match tomorrow before taking on Delhi on August 25.Delhi are atop Group B currently above Manipur having trounced Tamil Nadu 4-0 yesterday at the same venue.

Aanya Singh scored a brace (45', 57') for the winners before Siddhi Kanswal (77') and Nitika (90+3') contributed a goal apiece to complete the 4-0 rout.
