Manipur win 11 medals at 7th NE Pencak Silat C'ship

Imphal, July 19 2025: Manipur put up a commanding show at the 7th North East Pencak Silat Championship 2025, held on July 15 and 16 at Mayiro Park UNB-B, Burma Camp, Dimapur, Nagaland, bringing home an impressive 11 medals, including 6 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze.

The event, organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation and North East Pencak Silat Federation in collaboration with the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, featured eight teams from across the region along with a contingent from Assam Rifles.

Among Manipur's standout performers was Salam Kingson Luwang, who bagged double gold in the seni artistic preteen boys tunggal and tanding 36-38kg events.

Other gold medallists included Ashim Kori (preteen boys tanding 46-48kg), Wangkhem Malemnganba (pre-junior boys landing 42-45kg), Naorem Tomthinganba Singh (pre-junior boys landing 52-54kg), Maibam Rojit Singh (junior male landing 55-59kg), and Takhellambam Netajit Meitei (senior male landing 60-65kg) .

Silver medals were won by Kh Faeeza, Sinam Amarjit Singh, and Kshetrimayum Jackson Singh, while Charanjeet Ningthoujam and Loukrakpam Manithoiba secured bronze in their respective categories.

In addition to the athletes' success, Sinam Jeevan Meitei was honoured with the Best Male Referee award.

The Manipur contingent was led by coach Nawang Ngangom.

The team received a warm welcome at Imphal International Airport by the Pencak Silat Association of Manipur, which lauded their achievements.
