Gunachand, Natalie top 2nd Fit India State Level Cyclothon 2026

Kh Gunachand and Leishangthem Natalie Chanu secured open category titles as Sports Authority of India North East Region Center, Imphal hosted second Fit India State Level Cyclothon 2026 .
The event hosted to promote cycling culture and community participation as a part of the Fit India Movement was launched from Manipur University before it culminated at Khongjom War Memorial Complex.

Kh Gunachand Meitei, Leishangthem Bishorjit Singh and Nongmaithem Dhananjoy Singh made top three finishes in the men's open category as Leishangthem Natalie Chanu, Naorem Deena Devi and Shorensangbam Tanu made made the podium finishes in the women's open category.
Sanasam Chingkheinganba, Md Imtiyaz Rahaman and Ahanthem Dara Singh meanwhile secured top three positions in the 40+ men's category as Chingsubam Sanggai, Ningthoujam Nutan Devi and Heikrujam Jibolata were placed 1st, 2nd and third in the 40+ women's category.
The podium finishers and following 10 cyclists in all the categories were feted during the valedictory function that was attended by Victoria Yengkhom, IPS as chief guest; Elangbam Bhubaneswar Singh, member of Athlete Commission of Cycling Federation of India as functional president; Dronacharya Awardee Leishangthem Ibomcha; Padmashree awardee Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi; W Nandini Devi, 2 i/c of 86 Bn CRPF and others as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Victoria Yengkhom highlighted the importance of physical activities including cycling towards realising the goal of Fit India.
The cyclothon was organised especially to encourage healthier lifestyles and spread awareness about fitness across all age groups, he said.
The top three cyclists in all the categories were feted with cash prizes of Rs 25,000; 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively along with medals and certificates.
