Samson, bowlers fire AKSDO into 3rd MNCA U-19 Men's One Day Trophy quarterfinals

Laishram Samson scored a half century before bowlers wreaked havoc to help AKSDO, Khangabok crush YPHUC, Lalambung Makhong by 118 runs in a prequarterfinal match of the 3rd MNCA U-19 Men's One Day Trophy.
YPHUC won the toss at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground this morning but saw AKSDO post 179/8 in 27 overs before rain came to halt the innings.
With rain affecting the match, the target was revised at 196 in 27 overs for YPHUC who slumped to 77 all out in 20.1 overs in the chase as AKSDO bowlers prevailed.
AKSDO got off to a solid start after being asked to bat first with Laishram Samson and Bishorjit stitching together 88 runs for the first wicket in 12 overs until Konsam Mangal undone Bishorjit on 38 (off 30 balls) .
Samson held on and gathered another 58-runs for the second partnership with Borish Khundrakpam but was undone by Irom Ishor on 77 off 77 balls.
Borish also got run out soon on 22 before Saikhom Lanchenba tried his best to keep things together until he also got run out for the 8th wicket on 21 as the scoreboard read 179.Birbal Irom returned with the best bowling figures of 2/39 in 5 overs for YPHUC as K Mangal finished with the figures of 2/17 in 2 overs.
Chasing 196 for the victory, YPHUC had a sloppy start despite effort from Irom Sunny (25 off 35 balls) as Bidyananda picks three wickets including K Mangal 6 and Bishoraj Sharma 0 for the 3rd and the 4th wickets in the 14th over to reduce YPHUC to 52/4 after Saikhom Lanchenba found the breakthrough by bowling out Irom Ishor in the 6th over.
Akoijam Punshiba than removed Sunny on 25 and incoming Maisnam Naseer on first ball duck in the 15th over before getting rid of Mutum Purijit on 4-ball 1 to make it 70/7 in 16.4 overs.
Khundrakpam Shailesh then joined the fray to remove Irom Birbal 7 off 13 and Loktongbam Tomthilnganba 8-ball 0 to further reduce YPHUC to 77/9 in 20 overs before Punshiba returned to action and put a lid to the YPHUC innings by bowling out number 10 batter Loitongbam Joychandra on a 10-ball duck in the first delivery of the 21st over and walked away with the best figures of 4/16 in 4.1 overs.
Ningthoujam Bidyananda meanwhile returned with figures of 3/17 in 3 overs as Shailesh finished with an impressive figures of 2/1 in 2 overs.
Samson who led the AKSDO batting charge earlier was adjudged player of the match.
