AMGSU extends warm reception to South Asian Youth Karate Cup medallist Pratik Dahal

Imphal, July 08 2025: The All Manipur Gorkha Students ' Union (AMGSU) has congratulated Pratik Dahal, a rising karate star as he brought home a bronze medal from the 1st South Asian Youth Karate Cup 2025, held from July 5 to 6 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the aegis of the South Asian Karate Federation.

Pratik won the bronze medal for India in the Under-14 boys -50 kg category individual Kumite event at the event, said AMGSU in a statement.

His stellar performance is a reflection of his unwavering dedication, discipline, and indomitable spirit.

With his feat, Pratik has brought immense pride not only to the Nation but also to Manipur and the Gorkha community in particular.

A resident of Leimakhong Bazar, Pratik hails from a modest background.

His father, a small businessman, and his supportive family have been instrumental in his journey.

Despite limited resources, Pratik's perseverance and hard work have shown that determination can triumph over adversity, it said.

Upon his return, the AMGSU reception team led by Rajen Thapa, Games and Sports secretary, extended a warm welcome to Pratik at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal.

Joining the celebration were his proud parents and staff members of The Froebel English School, Kanglatongbi, where Pratik is currently studying, it said.

This achievement is more than just a personal milestone - it was a moment of collective pride for Manipur and a powerful inspiration to youth, particularly those from underrepresented and rural communities, it said.

In light of Pratik's potential and accomplishments, AMGSU urged the Government of Manipur and all relevant authorities to provide institutional and financial support for his academic and athletic development.

AMGSU also requested a review of his academic background and recommending he be granted scholarships, admission assistance, and other opportunities that will enable him to pursue excellence in both education and sports, AMGSU added.

Saluting Pratik Dahal for his remarkable achievement, AMGSU extended its heartfelt wishes for his continued success and expressed gratitude to his coach and manager for their guidance and commitment to his growth.
