Manipur slump to 99-run loss in 2nd NE Little Masters Trophy semis

Manipur's journey at the 2nd North East Little Masters Trophy for U-14 boys came to a close today as they went down by 99 runs to Assam at TIT Ground, Agartala in a semi-final clash.
Manipur chose to field first and saw Assam posting 174/ 8 in the allotted 40 overs.
Chasing 175 for the win, Manipur were bundled out for just 75 runs in 25 overs to concede the huge loss.
Dishant Diban Das shone with an unbeaten 71-ball 64, laced with 5 fours and 2 sixes, for Assam as his teammates Ayan Arzoo 32 off 80 balls and Kaustav Gogoi 29 off 43 balls made significant contributions.
Although Assam faced stiff opposition from State bowlers and were reduced to 0/1 in two overs, Ayan and Kaustav Gogoi gathered some courage to add 72 runs off 103 balls for the second wicket before Dishant Diban Das played a lone hand to steer Assam to 174/8.Kh Firdos was the pick of the Manipuri bowlers returning with 3/34 while Rahul Thongam (2/20) and Punshiba Kh (2/44) shared another four wickets, and Rajbir Khuman (1/10) picked one.
In reply, Manipur lost Mujamin early and things never recovered despite Md Albas Khan 11 off 30 balls and Sagatpam Telheiba 20 off 34 balls making all out effort to revive the innings as Tanveer Islam proved fatal with his bowling.
Tanveer Islam walked away with a four wicket haul for Assam (4/9 in 4 overs) as Aniket Singh (2/7) managed two wickets.
Ayush Pandey (1/16), Bedanto Borun Gogoi (1/4) and Binoy Krishna Debnath (1/5) also chipped in a wicket apiece for Assam to cut short the Manipur innings within 25 overs.
