YAS Minister announces "Diet Allowance" hike for RCC athletes as KISCE Imphal gets a facelift

The Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal got a major facelift with the introduction of Biometric Attendance system and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Diet Allowance to athletes and launching of renovated rooms this morning.
The formal launching and inauguration programme was held this morning in the presence of Konthoujam Govindas, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports; Naorem Praveen, Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports; Dr Mayengbam Veto, Director, Youth Affairs and Sports; L Ibomcha, Dronacharya Awardee and N Kunjarani, Olympian (Weightlifting), Padma Shri, Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awardee.

Speaking at the event that also saw the launching of E-Office of the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Govindas said that the daily "Diet Allowance" provided to the athletes of Regular Coaching Centres (RCCs) will be hiked from Rs 15 to Rs 25 in view of the growing prices of commodities.
He also announced that the proposal of engagement of private security service at Khuman Lampak will be put into action very soon to curb unwarranted activities in and around Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Maintaining that the process to hike the salary of multitasking staff is underway, he said that the State will be seeking permission to open 11 more Khelo India Sports Training Centre in the State.
Other relevant measures meant for the welfare of the State athletes will also be discussed and implemented, he continued.
Sports kits, furniture, computer, printer were also distributed at the occasion that saw the launching of the newly renovated KISCE Strength and Conditioning Room, Weightlifting Hall and installation of new platform and equipment.
Commendation Certificates and Plaques were also handed to eminent sports persons and emerging champions as a part of the function.
