Imphal, May 02 2025: Thoudam Dayanand and Puyam Lanchenbi made top place finishes in the boys and girls' categories of the 4th One Day U-20 Rapid Chess Tournament 2025 hosted by D Chess Academy at its office at Tera Sapam Leirak.

In the boys competition, Dayanand off Shishu Nistha Niketan amassed 6 points off six wins on the trot to seal the top place among 37 boys as Maibam Einstein of Ratan Kumar Memorial School and Oinam Khelemba of Kendriya Vidyalaya Imphal shared 5 points apiece to finish second and third respectively.

Elangbam Mangal (U-9) and Elangbam Prichard (U-13) of Heritage Convent meanwhile finished fourth and fifth in the same competition scoring 4.5 points each.

Sougaijam Lemba (4 pts) of Ramakrishna Mission School, Chingsubam Magnus (2.5 pts) of Leklam, Thounaojam Favien (2.5 pts) of UNACCO School-Khongman and Nandeibam Jonex (4 pts) of St Joseph's Hr Sec School were respectively adjudged best U-13, U-11, U-9 and best D Chess Academy player.

Meanwhile, in the girls competition participated by 13 players, Puyam Lanchenbi bagged 5 points to finish on top as Nirmalabas High School's Nongthombam Anjelena and Nongthombam Jojo scored 4 and 3 points to seal the second and third places.

Hanjabam Rajasmita (3 pts) of Nirmalabas High School, Nameirakpam Lorena (3 pts) of Pitambara English School, Yambem Jasmita (1 pt) of Little Flower School and and Potsangbam Kathrine (3 pts) of Shishu Nistha Niketan were meanwhile adjudged best U-13, U-11, U-9 and best D Chess Academy players respectively.

As many as 50 players, including 12 rated, from across 28 schools and colleges participated in the tournament.
