Imphal, December 31 2025: A team of young Taekwondo players from Manipur brought laurels to the State with an outstanding performance at the 11th National Open Taekwondo Championship held from December 29 to 30 at 71/1 Canal Circular Road, Mantosh Estate, Kolkata.

Representing Manipur under the banner of the All Manipur Taekwondo Association, the team comprised sub-junior, junior and cadet category players from Laira Fighters Club, Uripok.

The athletes showcased remarkable skill, discipline and competitive spirit, securing an impressive medal haul.

In the Kyorugi (sparring) events, the Manipur team clinched five gold medals and two silver medals, while in Poomsae, they added seven gold medals and four silver medals, reaffirming the State's growing strength and consistency in Taekwondo at the national level.

The victorious team is scheduled to arrive at Imphal International Airport on January 1, 2026, by Air India Express at 10:20 am .

The achievement has been widely appreciated by members of the sports fraternity, coaches and well-wishers, who see this success as a major boost to Taekwondo and grassroots sports development in Manipur, said Laira Fighters Club in a press statement.
