Kho-Kho and Kabaddi tourneys get underway in J in bam

Jiribam, October 29 2018:
District Level U-17 Boys and Girls Kho-Kho and Kabaddi tournaments being organised by District Administration and District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Jiribam under Khelo India Scheme, began today at Sports Complex, Bidyanagar, Jiribam.
The inaugural function of the tournaments organised was attended by M Mubi Singh, SP, Jiribam district as chief guest.
M Tilok Singh, Superintendent, DYASO, Jiribam who also attended the inaugural function maintained that the tournaments are organised with the theme "Sports for peace and Development" under Khelo India Scheme 2018-19.He also said that an organising committee which include Roberth Kshetrimayum, DC Jiribam as chairman; M Mubi Singh, SP, Jiribam district; Sunil Kumar, Commandant, 87 Bn CRPF and himself as members, was constituted for successful organisation of the tournaments.
The day saw completion of kabaddi competition of final line up both U-17 boys and girls and the Kho-Kho competitions will begin tomorrow.
The final matches and the closing ceremony will be held on October 31.Names of 3 best players in both disciplines will be shortlisted and recommended to Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India for annual financial assistance.
Day 1 Events
U-17 Boys Kabaddi
SAYC, Sorok Atingbi defeated Sonapur Club 37-31 in the opening match while Kalinagar team trounced Champanagar team in another match held in the evening today.
SAYC will face Kalinagar in the final match on October 31 .
In the first clash for girls, Champanagar team eased past New Alipur 29-16 before the New Alipur side make up the loss beating Aglapur team by 18-13 margin in the evening.
Alipur team will lock horns with Champanagar team for the U-17 girls title on October 31 .
