Multi disciplinary training centre, institute to be established

Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Vice Chairman Y Nilamani Singh has informed that necessary process for setting up of a multi-disciplinary training centre at Hiyangthang and a pottery training cum production centre at Thongjao, Kakching district, apart from a handicrafts training institute at Kakching are underway.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a one day beekeeping training programme, organized by KVIB at Kangchup Chiru Village, Kangpokpi district today.
The Vice Chairman went on to state that the DPR preparation for the multi-disciplinary training centre has completed while that of the pottery training cum production centre is in progress.
Stressing on the beekeeping training programme, he said that the training programme was carried out under "Honey Mission" which started in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for "Sweet Revolution" in the country.
He explained that the action plan focus on providing sustainable source of livelihood to the people apart from boosting their economy.
He further informed that beekeeping generates huge income by investing only a small capital.
Maintaining that beekeeping requires little or no effort, he urged all to take up the occupation and generate huge income apart from engaging in other occupation.
He also asked the villagers of Kangchup Chiru Village to form a cluster of beekeeping enthusiasts from the village and conveyed that there is also consideration for providing aids in setting up units of processing, bottling, packaging and labelling units for honey.
KVIB Th Ibomcha Singh also spoke about beekeeping as a resource person at the training programme and highlighted the values of bees and honey.
He maintained that honey has high nutritional and medicinal values and its demand has continuously increased.
Stating that around 70 plants which the bees favourably pollinates are grown in the State, he pointed out that the State is best suitable for taking up beekeeping occupation.
Kangchup Chiru Village chief Jacob and senior BJP leader and former Minister Dr Khasim Ruivah among others also attended the function as president and guests of honour respectively.
