Imphal, October 29 2018:
With the State Government yet to sign a power purchase agreement with the National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) which is the implementing agency of Loktak Downstream Power Project, the project has been inordinately delayed.
The power purchase agreement should be signed with due consent of the State Cabinet but there is no question of tabling the matter at Cabinet meeting any time soon, informed a source.
As such, it is not sure when the project would take off, added the source.
The Loktak Downstream Power Project is targeted to generate 66 MW and its estimated cost is around Rs 12050 crore, and the State Government is planning to take this amount from the Japan International Cooperation Agency as loan.
