5th Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy: REYS beat ESU by 45 runs for second Group A victory

REYS, Nagamapal defeated ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound by 45 runs to stretch their winning run to two games in the ongoing 5 th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy 2024-25.REYS opted to bat first here at Khudeiband Lampak and amassed 163 runs for 4 wickets before bundling out ESU for 118 runs riding on a concerted bowling effort.
REYS got off to a solid start with Jaali Chisti 20 off 28 balls and Md Basir Rahman 45 off 35 forging 60 runs for the first wicket partnership before KKV Mustaque 32 off 21 balls and Kangujam Ringku 48 off 22 balls played their parts to take the team past 150-run mark.
Lourembam Dipu (2/47) and Chongtham Mehul Shreth (2/31) picked two wickets apiece for ESU in this innings before they slumped to 118 all out in 17.2 overs in the face off Ringku (2/18), Laishram Kiran (2/19), Md Basir Rahman (2/18) who were aided by other three bowlers who chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Ringku who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
In a Group A match staged at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, SCCC beat KCC by 20 runs by defending a total of 104/8 .
SCCC posted a meagre total of 104/8 on the back of Kh Ulenyai 20 off 15 and Moirangthem Thomas 16 off 21 in an innings that saw W Somorjit (2/17) and N Singthoi (2/19) sharing four wickets for KCC before Hidangmayum Rakeshwor (3/ 13), Bikash (2/16) and Moirangthem Thomas (2/11) shooked the KCC line up held them to 84/8 in 20 overs.
Rakeshwor was declared man of the match.
Meanwhile in a Group C match, PTCC beat CRAU, Khamnam Bazar by 58 runs after their first match against RCA was washed out by rain.
PTCC elected to bat first at Lairenjam Public Ground and posted 157/5 in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of Mandingbam Andy who struck 4 fours and 7 sixes on the way to his quickfire 83 off 44 balls and a 34-ball 35 from G Gomi Sharma before Loukrakpam Anao (3/14), Mutum Gemson (2/18), Sohail Akram (2/27) and Naorem Victor (2/23) dismantle CRAU for 99 runs in 17.3 overs.
Lamabam Ajay who posted 27 runs for CRAU also picked two wickets (2/15) as H Joyhenba and Th Joychandra claimed a wicket apiece.
Andy Mandingbam was eventually adjudged man of the match.
The day also saw Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha bounce back with a 18-run win over MPSC.
Model Club racked up a huge total of 184 runs for 5 wickets after opting to bat first with skipper Langlonyamba blazing 85 off 38 balls including 3 fours and 8 sixes before MPSC ended up gathering 166/6 in reply despite Soubam Kingson's 53-ball 79 and Potsangbam Bonem's 25-ball 30.For MPSC, Thoudam Gelson (2/28), Oinam Rojit (1/43) and Mutum Pritam (1/41) were among the wickets as Laishram Robertson (2/29), Yanglem Suson (1/31), Naorem Dibak (1/22) and M Langlonyamba (1/27) shared 5 wickets for Model Club.
Langlonyamba was eventually named man of the match.
