7th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shashtri Memorial State Open Chess Tournament begins

Kh Sanjoy, S Lemba and 18 others posted second straight wins as the 7th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shashtri Memorial State Open Chess Tournament got underway today at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Keishamthong.
Khumukcham Sanjoy defeated Kh Rocky for the second win as Sougaijam Lemba beat Sadokpam Premjit for the second win.
L Shakespeare meanwhile defeated Ch Dinesh for his second win as Huidrom Bhupendra Nath beat Sougaijam Nadia; Kongjengbam Poireikhomba beat Senjam Anish, Taorem Chitaranjan beat M Willamba, RK Angamba beat Aribam Punaraj, Elangbam Shashikanta beat Elangbam Jeakson, Leimaram Shamkishore beat Thongam Nabachandra, H Somokanta beat Maibam Yohenba and M Rana beat Khagembam Premchandra; Sinam Lawrence beat M Ranjan to extend their winning run.
Meanwhile, Naoremcha Yoihenba beat Moirangthem Sanjit, RK Sudhirsana beat N Saratchandra, Maisnam Punsiba beat Bit Irom, Deepak Hima beat Ph Rajen, Konsam Jiban beat RK Ningthem, Gurumayum Arosemith Sharma beat Thoungamba Nameirakpam, Seram Indrajit beat Soibam Ronald and Thoudam Dayanand beat beat Th Tomba for second wins.
The day also saw S Robin and Naorem Ojit playing out a draw to keep their unbeaten run after first round victories as Mangal Elangbam beat Toijam Bylonta and Nandeibam Jonex beat Longjam Kenedy to secure their first win after first round draws.
The players who registered first win in two rounds include H Jogendra, N Dhaneshwor, M Modhusudon, Maibam Dorendro, Khuman Einstein Maibam, Khoirom Bikramjit, Ningthemcha Sinthoiba, Longjam Dhanachandra, Oinam Khelemba, Prichard Elangbam, Khuraijam Malem, Huirongbam Malemnganba, L Malvin, Ng Dhanachandra, E Juridgeson, N Anjelina, RK Sanghamitra, RK Dolen, Th Talentson, T Tennyson and L Kanishkar.
Khundrakpam Borish and RK Thoiba also shared 1/2 point apiece in the second round after their first round loss.
As many as 93 rated and non rated players are taking part in the 9-round State level tournament organised by the Manipur Chess Association.
