Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, June 19 2025: Angtha FC ended their 5-game winless run in the 2nd Premier League Group A by handing AMOFA, Moirang a 3-1 defeat this evening at Sekmai Koujengleima ground.

Having lost four times and drawn once in the last five games, Angtha FC ended their wait for a win as Konthoujam Bobosana struck twice and Tensubam Brucelee netted one to set up the 3-1 win against the Moirang side.

The two sides drew blank in the opening half but Angtha FC broke the deadlock after 64 minutes thanks to K Bobosana before T Brucelee doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Angtha FC kept pressing despite the sudden surge and found their third goal after 76 minutes with Bobosana converting a penalty.

AMOFA, after conceding three goals, fought back late and managed to pull back a goal in the 80th minute through Yumnam Harison.

They however failed to further reduce the margin as Angtha FC ramped up their defence to deter AMOFA charges.

In the Group B matches staged earlier in the morning, Youth Social Welfare Association (YSWA), Utlou beat AIM, Khabam Lamkhai in a five-goal thriller to extend their winning run to two games and unbeaten run to five games while United Chandel FC (UCFC) beat NISA, Thangmeiband by 4-2 goals.

In the first match, AIM enjoyed a 1-0 first half lead but YSWA resurged in the second half to earn a 3-2 win.

Elangbam Joykishan put AIM ahead after 38th minute but YSWA who failed to convert their chances in the opening period pulled level through Goldenson Japui after 57 minutes.

AIM retained the lead through Thiyam Amujao in the 67th minute but Huirem Romesh who came off the bench in the 75th minute found the equaliser for YSWA in the 87th minute before his compatriot Laithangbam Jackson scored deep 8 minutes into the stoppage time to snatch the win.

In another Group A match, Classic FA beat ABA, Kshetrigao by 2-0 goals courtesy first half goals coming from Khullakpam Zahir Khan (10') and Yumnam Bishorjit (30') .

In the second Group B match, UCFC sealed their third win in five games by defeating NISA by 4-2 goals courtesy of a hattrick by Thaokung Malchong Chothe.

UCFC, who beat DMRAO by 3-1 goals in the previous match, found the lead early in the 3rd minute through Thaokung Malchong before Kenphashah Chinir doubled the advantage in the 25th minute.

Thaokung Malchong went on to net his second to make it 3-0 after 31 minutes as NISA failed to read the UCFC's team work.

NISA however pulled back a goal through Yensembam Umakanta in the 39th minute to enter into the break trailing 1-3 .

The two sides shared many runs after the restart but did not materialise until Thaokung Malchong made the most of a chance to complete his treble m the 84th minute to make it 4-1.NISA further cut back a goal three minutes into the stoppage time on the back of Khuyenthem Rajesh but it was too late for them to make a comeback.
