NSA athletes lead way in IE ASMITA Weightlifting League

Imphal, September 18 2025: NSA athletes shone with 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in the ASMITA Weightlifting League for Imphal East district organised by the Manipur Weightlifting Association under the aegis of Indian Weightlifting Federation at Khamlangbam community hall, Nongpok Kakching yesterday.

BSU meanwhile managed 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in the district level competition held across 8 weight categories under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

In the 44 kg category competition, Kh Safia of NSA sealed the top honour with a combined effort of 89 kg (39 in snatch and 50 in clean and jerk) as compatriot M Alina settled for the silver medal with an 82-kg finish (37 in snatch and 82 in clean and jerk) .

Th Linthoibi of NSK was third on 81 kg (34 in snatch and 47 in clean and jerk) to win the bronze medal.

Kh Luwangsana of MEIRA claimed the 48 kg category gold medal with a combined effort of 139 kg (60 in snatch and 79 in clean and jerk) as LDAWML's A Bidyalaxmi managed 104 kg (45 in snatch and 59 in clean and jerk) to win the silver and Haobijam Helipta of NSA finished third on 75 kg (32 in snatch and 43 in clean and jerk) to seal the bronze medal.

BSU's Ch Yaiphabi meanwhile recorded best lift of 151 kg (67 in snatch and 84 in clean and jerk) to win the 53 kg category title as compatriot N Roshini picked the silver medal with 128 kg effort (59 in snatch and 69 in clean and jerk) and KYO's N Gunileima posted 117 kg finish (53 in snatch and 64 in clean and jerk) for the bronze medal.

BSU's S Antoniya in the meantime won the 58 kg category gold medal with a combined effort of 150 kg (65 in snatch and 85 in clean and jerk) as Ch Moniska of NMLC (78 kg) and Kalpana Huidrom of KYO (51 kg) settled for the silver and bronze medals.

The 63 kg category gold medal in the meantime went to L Pomshatnabi of NSK who lifted 82 kg in snatch and 102 kg in clean and clean and jerk to amass 184 kg.

Th Preety of NSA (67 kg in snatch and 76 kg in clean and jerk) and T Alvina (43 kg in snatch and 62 kg in clean and jerk) bagged the silver and bronze medals in the said category.

A Mandakini of NSA meanwhile topped the 69 kg category competition by posting best 192 kg (86 in snatch and 106 in clean and jerk) as A Premika of WAL Club (65 kg in snatch and 84 kg in clean and jerk) and S Lingjelthoibi of BSU (45 kg in snatch and 65 kg in clean and clean and jerk) settled for the silver and bronze medals.

NSK's H Priyarani also won a gold medal registering 65 kg in snatch and 85 kg in clean and jerk to post a total of 150 kg as NSU's A Debaarbina win the silver (58 kg in snatch and 69 kg in clean and jerk) and S Malemnganbi of KYO (35 kg in snatch and 39 kg in clean and jerk) sealed the silver and bronze medals.

H Olympia of NSA sealed the unit's third gold medal by topping the 86 kg category event with a combined lift of 170 kg (75 in snatch and 80 in clean and jerk).

H Thoibinao of MEIRA (64 kg in snatch and 80 kg in clean and jerk) and Olibiya of BSU (60 kg in snatch and 72 kg in clean and jerk) finished second and third.
