UPAA felicitates India U-20 football stars Thokcom Remi, Chingakham Alina

Imphal, August 17 2025: The United Progressive Adult's Association (UPAA), Kyamgei today felicitated two local players Thokcom Remi and Chingakham Alina who shone in the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers and ended India's wait for the continental event after 2006 .

Notably, Thokchom Remi, daughter of Thokchom Bijoy and Thokchom Ongbi Sunibala of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai and Chingakham Alina alice Guddu, daughter of Chingakham Angouba and Chingakham Ongbi Radharani of the same locality were part of the National U-20 women's football team that made the historic qualification for the Asian Cup.

The felicitation programme was held this evening at the office of the Youth Social Club, Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai which is an associate member of UPAA, Kyamgei, said UPAA in a press release.

The programme was attended by Lourembam Memcha Leima, mother of MLA Lourembam Rameshwor; Jadavchandra Haobam, working president of UPAA; members and patrons of UPAA; Sandham Gandharaj, president of Khagemba Committee and others, it said.

UPAA beamed with pride as it honored two local rising stars for their outstanding achievement in making it to the National team and playing a pivotal role in qualifying for the Asian Cup.

In a gesture of appreciation, the UPAA presented them with gifts, kits, and tracksuits, along with cash incentives.

The gathering also showered best wishes upon the young football stars, hoping they would continue to excel and achieve greater heights in the future.
