Imphal, May 13 2025:
Asufii FA, NISA and Classic FA registered contrasting victories in Tuesday's 2nd Premier League clashes at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Asufii FA swept aside AIM 3-0 in their Group B encounter, displaying both clinical finishing and defensive solidity.
The match began at a brisk pace, with Asufii asserting early control.
Their efforts were rewarded in the 13th minute when Salam Swam-ichandra Meitei broke the deadlock with a well-taken finish, capitalising on a defensive lapse from AIM.
Despite sustained pressure, Asufii were unable to add to their tally before the interval, with AIM's backline just about managing to keep the deficit to a single goal.
However, the floodgates opened after the restart.
Matthan Ramrar doubled Asufii's lead in the 54th minute with a composed strike, before Wangkheirakpam John Singh put the result beyond doubt six minutes later, slotting home to make it 3-0 .
AIM struggled to mount any meaningful response, as Asu-fii comfortably saw out the match to claim an emphatic three points.
In another gripping Group B encounter, NISA held their nerve to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over a dogged Sagolband United side, despite a late resurgence from their opponents.
NISA exploded out of the blocks, taking the lead within just four minutes through Ngoru Semi Moyon, who pounced on a defensive error to slot past the goalkeeper.
The early momentum continued as Khumanthem Hemlet doubled their advantage in the 9th minute, finishing off a swift counter-attack to leave Sagolband reeling.
The second half saw a shift in momentum, with Sagolband pushing forward in search of a lifeline.
Their persistence paid off in the 63rd minute when Jirjar Terang calmly converted a penalty.
Despite sustained pressure, NISA's defence held firm to ensure the narrow victory.
Meanwhile, in Group A, Classic FA battled to a hard-earned 1-0 triumph over AMFA in a tightly contested affair that could have gone either way.
The match was a cagey affair, with both sides probing for openings in a congested midfield.
The decisive moment arrived in the 32nd minute when Khullakpam Zahir Khan latched onto a loose ball inside the box and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper.
AMFA responded with increased urgency, pressing forward in search of an equaliser.
They came close on several occasions, but Classic FA's backline stood firm.
A combination of last-ditch defending and smart goalkeeping ensured they held on for a vital three points.
