Winter Tennis Tournament underway : Ribhaskar in both men's open and 35+ singles semi-finals

Imphal, December 12 2025: Winter Tennis Tournament 2025 organised by IDTA and ASTPM got underway today at IDTA Complex, Lamphelpat with a series of entertaining matches across various age groups and events.

The opening day saw Ribhaskar securing semi-final tickets in both the men's open and 35+ singles events to boost his chances for podium finish.

In the men's open singles event, Ribhaskar pulled off a 6-4, 6-0 win over Azad to set up a semi-final date with Premjit.

Padameshwar also booked his semi-final ticket in the same competition by defeating Nonginsana 6-2, 6-2.Padameshwar will meet Brojen who got a first round bye in the semi-final.

Ribhaskar meanwhile booked his semi-final ticket in the 35+ singles event with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Lanjoy.

In another match, W Done edged out Jackie 7-5, 2-6 to set up a semi-final date with Ribhaskar.

In other matches, Yuridas overwhelmed Raja 6-0, 6-0 and Ranbir outlasted Guneshwar 6-0, 6-0 to complete the semi-final line up.

M Pradip, Rakesh advance to 45+ men's singles quarters

The day also saw M Pradip and Rakesh defeating their rivals to enter into the last-8 round of the 45+ men's singles quarterfinals.

M Pradip defeated Amarjit 6-2, 6-3 to set up a quarterfinal date with Tuleshwor, who got a first round bye.

Meanwhile, Rakesh won 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) against Arun to set up a quarterfinal date with Shitaljit who also got a first round bye.

Stage set for 50+ men's semi-finals

The semi-final line up for the 50+ men's singles event was also completed today with Tuleshwor, Kumarjit, Jayenta, and Dilip securing first round wins.

Tuleshwor powered 6-0, 6-1 past Aldrin while Kumarjit edged out Prakash 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 to set up a semi-final date with one another.

Jayenta meanwhile edged out M Pradip 6-3, 6-2 to set up a semi-final date with Dilip who prevailed 6-0, 6-0 against Umakanta in another clash.
