State boxing championship postponed; U-22 trials on June 22

he Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) has postponed the State Level Boxing Championship, originally scheduled from June 17 to 22, 2025, at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena, due to the ongoing unrest in Manipur.
In an official communication issued to local media houses, MABA confirmed that while the state-level event stands deferred, the Under-22 boys and girls state selection trials will go ahead on June 22 at the same venue.
The trials aim to select boxers for the national selection trials at ASI Pune, Maharashtra, ahead of the Asian Boxing Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
Eligible participants must be male or female boxers born between 2004 and 2006 (aged 19 to 21 years) .
The trials will cover a range of weight categories.
For men: 47-50 kg, 50-55 kg, 55-60 kg, 60-65 kg, 65-70 kg, 70-75 kg, 75-80 kg, 80-85 kg, 85-90 kg, and above 90 kg .
For women: 45-48 kg, 48-51 kg, 51-54 kg, 54-57 kg, 57-60 kg, 60-65 kg, 65-70 kg, 70-75 kg, 75-80 kg, and above 80 kg .
Document verification is scheduled for June 21 from 9 am, with weigh-ins from 2 pm to 5 am the following morning.
Required documents include a birth certificate with QR code, Aadhaar card with history, age proof, and passport.
Only the top two boxers per weight category, for both men and women, will be selected.
Medal winners (gold and silver) from the REC Talent Hunt 2024 and the World Boxing Championship 2024 are to report personally, MABA further informed.
