NEROCA FC squander 2-goal lead to draw 2-2 draw with Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC

Imphal, May 08 2026: NEROCA FC threw away a 2-goal lead to play out a 2-2 draw with Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in the I-League 2 this evening.

Coming off from a slender 0-1 away game loss United Sports Club at Kalyani Stadium, NEROCA FC headed into a 2-goal early lead courtesy of goals coming from Phijam Sanathoi Meetei (14') and Khanngam Horam (20') but the visitors fought back and drew level riding on Rahul Kumar Paswan (28') and Phijam Vikash Singh (53') .

NEROCA FC's hopes of avoiding relegation took a hit with the result and continued to languish in the relegation zone while Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC went fourth in the table and boosted their playoff hopes.

The former I-League (now called Indian Football League) runners up, had registered only one win, 5-3 against Sporting Club Bengaluru, and drawn twice in 7 matches.

NEROCA FC will look to jump out of the relegation zone as they host Sudeva Delhi FC in their final league round match on May 14 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium from 3 pm .
