The 12-acre land for developing the sports complex was generously donated to the Government by Chandel Christian Village free of cost.
An understanding was reached between both parties before construction began during the 2020-21 tenure, he said.
Although the complex was inaugurated in 2024, it has unfortunately remained unmaintained to date, except for periodic inspections carried out by the village, he said.
The village chief urged the Government to assign the maintenance of the facility to a fully equipped District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer.
He further alleged that the agreement to provide fourthgrade jobs to three villagers, as per the understanding with the Government, has not been honoured till date.
"If we consider the land valuation, at least seven villagers deserve to be given jobs," he added.
The village chief also requested the authorities to develop an artificial turf to further boost football potential in the district.
Taking note of the proposals, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr M Veto, assured that he would do everything possible from his end.
Seeking public support to make Chandel a sports powerhouse, Dr Veto announced that the district will soon have a regular coaching centre for women footballers under the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
