9th National Vovinam Championship: Manipur inching closer to team championship title

Imphal, July 04 2019: Manipur bagged a total of 23 medals including 22 golds, 1 silver on the third day of the 9th National Vovinam Championship 2019 organized by Assam Vovinam Association under aegis of Vovinam Association of India at Guwahati Phookan Indoor Stadium since July 2 to lead the medal tally with 32 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

In Senior Song Luyen Kiem event of the championship, W Bimal and W Bibek clinched gold while in Tu Ve Nu (Woman Self Defence) fight, Ch Mahadeva and L Pushpa grabbed the gold medal.

In Da Luyen Vu Khi Nu event, K Raju, L Ajit, Ch Mahadeva and L Pushpa collected gold while in Mix Basic Self-defence Technique team (3 female vs 3 male), H Omita, H Henna, L Pushpa, K Raju, Ch Mahadeva and L Ajit settled with silver medal.

Ch Mahadeva grabbed four golds in four different event of the championship which include Tu Tuong Con Phap event, Tinh Hoa Lvong Nghi Kiem Phap event, Long Ho Quyen event and Thap Tha Bat Thva Quyen event.

H Omita managed to grab gold in Long Ho Quyen event while L Pushpa performed better in the Tinh Hoa Lvong Nghi Kiem Phap event to clinch gold.

Whereas in Dong Doi Kiem Nu event, L Pushpa, H Omita, Ch Saolin and S Sneha added one more gold.

In Song Dao Phap event, H Omita continued her winning streak to win the gold medal while H Henna displayed superlative performance to grab two golds in the Thai Cuc Don Dao Phap event and Thap Tha Quyen event.

The pair of H Omita and H Henna again came up with an exceptional performance to win gold in Song Luyen Kiem event while W Bibek collected gold in Thap Tha Quyen event.

K Raju and L Ajit bagged a gold medal in Song Luyen-3 event while Ch Mahadeva and K Raju booked another gold for the State in Song Luyen Dao.

In Da Luyen Vu Khi Nam even, a State team comprised of Y Lanchangba; K Raju; L Ajit and Ch Mahadeva outperformed their opponent and clinched the gold.

W Bimal; V Avoinii Pao; W Bibek and Th Somorjit won another gold for the State in Dong Doi Kiem Nam.

Ch Mahadeva also collected gold medal in Nhat Nguyet Dai Dao Phap event and a team of L Ajit; K Raju; Ch Mahadeva and Y Lanchangba also won gold in Don Chan Tan Cong event.

K Raju and L Ajit won another gold for the State in Song Luyen Ma Tau event.
