35th Men State Level Polo tournament begins, MPSC-C; K & MM Riding School-B sail through to last-16

Imphal, January 03 2019: The 35th Men State Level Polo tournament 2018-19 kicked off at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal with the participation of 26 teams under the aegis of All Manipur Polo Association today.

In the first match on the opening day, MPSC-C defeated ESC-A by 3-2 goals while K & MM Riding School - B overpowered Meiraba Polo Club by 8-4 goals in the second match and sailed through to pre-quarter final matches.

Both MPSC-C and ESC-A displayed spirited performances from the beginning of the first match and as a result both the teams failed to score any goals in the first chakra.

However, MPSC-C led the scoreline 2-1 at the end of second chakra powered by Kh Dinesh and Th Romen who have scored two successive goals for MPSC-C while N Pravin of ESC-A scored one goal.

MPSC-C surged ahead with one more goal through I Khaba to make it 3-1 at the end of third chakra.

But H Sanjoy of ESC-A replied with one goal to reduce the margin to 2-3.However, MPSC-C managed to hold on to the lead to wrap up the match with 3-2 goals at the end of the match.

In the second match, both K & MM Riding School-B and Meiraba Polo put up superb performances in the field and were fighting very hard to surge ahead in the match as is evident from the scoreline that both the team were standing at 4-4 goals at the end of third chakra.

However, it is in the last chakra that K & MM Riding School-B showed their true skills which have successfully scored four quick goals to seal the match with 8-4 goals.

Ch Ajit of K & MM Riding School-B scored the first goal to help his team led the first chakra 1-0 while M Homen extended the lead to 2-0 in the second chakra.

However, L Dhaneshwor of Meiraba Polo Club put it two quick equaliser to level the score at 2-2 at the end of second chakra.

In the third chakra, S Thamoi and Ch Ajit of K & MM Riding School-B scored two more goals but L Dhaneshwor of Meiraba Polo Club replied with two successive goals to level the score at 4-4 .

K & MM Riding School-B unleashed all their reserve energy in the last chakra and successfully added four goals through Ch Ajit who scored 3 more goals and one goal from M Homen to fold up the match with comprehensive 8-4 goals.

DG-AR will meet SAN-B on January 5 at 1 pm while CRPF will lock horn with ESC-B at 2 pm .
