2nd Premier League : SSU beat Angtha FC in five-goal thriller as NISA hammer DMRAO 6-1

Imphal, June 30 2025:
Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei beat Angtha FC 3-2 while North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband crushed Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation (DMRAO) 6-1 in the ongoing 2nd Premier League at Artificial Turf Ground.
In the final Group A match of the tournament staged this morning, SSU rode on Sharangthem Raj dan's 90th minute strike to beat Angtha FC 3-2 and finish their league campaign with 5 wins and 2 draws.
The two sides were evenly poised from the beginning but Angtha FC found the lead first when Irungbam Mahesh made the most of a chance in the 27th minute.
SSU did not take much time to draw level with Usham Robert finding the target in the 37th minute.
After settling the first half in a 1-1 draw and cancelling out one another for a major portion of the second half, Angtha FC retained the lead through Tensubam Brucelee in the 82nd minute but SSU fought back and restored parity yet again when Naorem Kishan who subbed in for Usham Robert hit the equaliser in the 85th minute.
The competition was wide open with the two sides locked at 2-2 and when the two sides almost looked to share a point apiece, Sharangthem Rajdan made the difference for SSU with the 90th minute strike.
The win helped SSU finish Group A runners up behind league leaders FC Raengdai on 17 points.
In a Group B league match staged later in the day, Sapam Basanta scored a treble to fire NISA 6-1 past DMRAO to cap their campaign with two wins and two draws.
The game started with a bang as DMRAO took the lead just two minutes into the game with Ningthoujam Rohit finding the target but NISA rallied back and enjoyed a 3-1 first half lead thanks to successive goals from Shagolshem Priyojit (20'), Sapam Basanta (23') and Khumanthem Hemlet (25') in a span of five minutes.
NISA kept pressing for more goals after the restart and Sapam Basanta took centre-stage as he went on to score two more goals back to back in the 70th and the 78th minutes to make it 5-1 and piled further misery on DMRAO .
Konsam Angamba then hit the final nail to the coffin 1 minutes into the stoppage time (90+1') and finished off the game 6-1 .
With the result, NISA ended their league campaign on 8 points as DMRAO finished one point ahead of NISA from two wins and three draws.
