38th State Aquatic Championship 2025 kicks off at Khuman Lampak

Imphal, May 10 2025: The 38th State Aquatic Championship 2025, organised by the Manipur Swimming Association (MSA), commenced with an exciting opening day at the Khuman Lampak Aquatic Complex.

Young swimmers from across the state delivered impressive performances, setting the tone for a competitive and high-spirited tournament.

In the sub junior girls group 3 (100m breaststroke), Luchingbi Soubam clinched the gold with a commanding time of 01:34.01.She was followed by Christina Mangang (01:42.48) and Akoijam Langlen Devi (01:46.292), who secured silver and bronze respectively.

Koijam Athoiba dominated the pool in the sub-junior boys group 3, winning both the 100m breaststroke (01:06.761) and the 400m freestyle (04:59.35).He was trailed closely in the breaststroke by Laitonjam Punghen and Mangalsana Thangjam, while Thangjam Mangalsana and Lanchenba Angom completed the podium in the freestyle event.

In the junior boys group 2 (400m freestyle), Pravesh Mathurabashimayum edged out Nongmaithem Dhananjoy Meetei in a closely contested race, clocking 04:54.30 to Dhananjoy's 04:54.56.Khagemba Sarungbam took third place.

L Bishorjit emerged victorious in the junior boys group 2 (50m breaststroke) with a time of 00:31.77, ahead of Th Langamba (00:32.08) and Prithiraj Laishram (00:36.33).Among the younger swimmers in sub-junior boys group 4 (50m breaststroke), Sarangthem Yoihen Meitei secured the top spot with a finish of 00:47.25, followed by Luching Sarungbam and Khangembam Veveklemba Singh.

In the senior categories, Sarungbam Athouba Meitei stood out, taking gold in both the se nior boys group 1 (50m breaststroke) with a swift 00:28.27 and the senior (50m freestyle) clocking 00:24.861.He was joined on the freestyle podium by O Dimboy Singh and S Taibangangba Meitei.

Other highlights included Laitongjam Lanchen-ba's gold in boys group 3 (50m butterfly) with a time of 00:26.417, and Pravesh Mathurabashi-mayum again making his mark in the 50m freestyle, securing first with a time of 00:27.191 .
