Noney, March 06 2025: Noney district took another significant step in its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and illicit trafficking by organising a Mega Marathon Race under the theme "A Step Towards a Healthier Life Without Drugs" .

The event, held on Thursday in Longmai, Noney district headquarters, saw participants running along NH-37 in both male and female categories.

A total of 115 participants - 83 men and 32 women - competed in the marathon as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign) .

The event was jointly organised by the District Social Welfare Office, District Police, and District Administration, Noney.

The race was flagged off at Longmai Bazar Bridge Point by Namsadai Peter Pamei, SP Noney, in the presence of Stiff Kaphudang, ADM Noney, and Singupngam Thaimei, District Social Welfare Officer, Noney, along with other officials.

The men's category covered 8km, finishing at the Noney DC Office gate, while the women's race spanned 7km, concluding at the Makhuam-4 waiting shed.

The final gathering point for all participants was Longmai Common Ground, Noney.

In the men's category, Gainithui Malangmei of Pongringlong secured first place, followed by Gaitanthai Gonmei of Luangchum Part-1 in second place and Rephidim Phaomei of Khumji-3 in third place.

Meanwhile, in the women's category, Kathanduanliu Gonmei of Taukuamjang claimed first place, while Lungthaoliu Panmei of Khumji and Gaingamliu Kamei of Khumji-2 secured second and third places, respectively.

A prize distribution ceremony was held at Longmai Common Ground, Noney, where all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their efforts.
