Hockey Legend calls for uniting hockey bodies

Imphal, August 19 2025: Deeply concerned over protracted hindrances caused to development of hockey in the state due to emergence of two associations for the game and on-going contentions between the two, Le Manipur United Hockey Club also known as Hockey Legend strongly called for unification of the two associations as a single entity and work towards development of the game.

With the main objective of unification of the two hockey associations, a sit-in demonstration was staged Tuesday along Dingku road under the initiative of Hockey Legend.

Hockey Legend president Soraisam Ratan told media persons on the sidelines of the sit-in that protracted conflict between two hockey associations not only hinders development of the game but is also forcing players to rethink over taking the sport as a serious profession.

Additionally, fund from Hockey India for development of hockey in the state had ceased due to emergence of two associations, he said and strongly called for unification of the two associations for overall development of the game.
