FCL rout NACO 3-0, SFC edge SAI-RC 3-2 in 17th MSL

Imphal, March 01 2025: FC Lamjao (FCL) ended NACO, Nambul Mapal's unbeaten run with a 3-0 rout as SFC, Tera edged 3-2 past SAI-RC, Takyel to go top of the Group B table in the ongoing 17th Manipur State League.

In the first Group B match of the day staged at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong this evening, FC Lamjao rode on a second half brace from Elangbam Joykison to seal the 3-0 win.

NACO, who were unbeaten in three games and FC Lamjao, who have registered two of two previous wins, failed to find the breakthrough in the first half despite chances.

FC Lamjao however entered the second half with more purpose and raced to a 2-0 lead with Elangbam Joykison scoring back to back in the 55th and the 63rd minutes.

FC Lamjao kept pressing NACO for more goals and further went ahead with a 3-0 advantage and eventually the win as Huidrom Rishiraj found the target two minutes away from time.

In another Group B match staged later in the day at Sagolmang ground, SFC overcame SAI-RC 3-2 courtesy of Naorem Klose.

SAI-RC dominated earlier proceedings and entered the break with a slender 1-0 lead through Ngairangbam Jarish's 34th minute strike but SFC cancelled the lead through Soibam Nobel in the 52nd minute before the team overturned the lead through Naorem Roshan after 63 minutes.

SAI-RC rallied back with Chihanring Lunghar scoring the equaliser in the 75th minute but Naorem Klose who subbed in for Khumdram Radhakanta after 70 minutes retained the lead for SFC after 80 minutes.

It was an end to end game in the latter stages as SFC tried to pile more misery while SAI-RC looked to level the margin.

None of their attempts yielded result and eventually, SFC extended their winning run to three games to go top of the table on 10 points (3 wins and 1 draw) .

The day also saw two Group A matches end in draws.

The first Group A match between Milan FA, Keibi and USA, Khurai ended in a goalless draw while NESU, Khurai and YPHU, Lalambung Makhong played out a 1-1 draw.

Md Mustofa scored for NESU in the 32nd minute only to be cancelled out by Thongam Priyaball in the 61st minute for YPHU .
