Four state Karatekas selected for South Asian C'ship

Imphal, June 29 2025:
Four young karate athletes and two officials from Manipur have been selected to represent India at the upcoming 9th South Asian Karate Championship and the inaugural Under-14 South Asian Karate Cup, to be held from July 2 to 6, 2025 at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Indian team members, including the four state athletes and officials, will depart for Colombo on July 1 and 2 and are expected to return on July 8 .
The selected athletes from Manipur include Lannganbi Soram, who will compete in the Under-12 (−40 kg Kumite) category; Sinthoiba Thiyam in the Under-12 (−45 kg Kumite); Ph Arif Khan in the Under-14 (−45 kg Kumite); and Pratik Dahal in the Under-14 (−50 kg Kumite).
Accompanying them as officiating referees are Soibam Bindeshori Chanu and Mutum Bankim Singh, the only internationally qualified referees from Manipur with valid Asian Karate Federation licences in both Kata and Kumite disciplines.
The athletes hail from various parts of the state.
Lannganbi Soram is the daughter of Soram Chinglen Luwang of Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai; Sinthoiba Thiyam is the son of Thiyam Somorendro Singh of Taobungkhok Makha Leikai; Ph Arif Khan is the son of Md Heshamuddin of Lilong Chingkham Makha Atoukhong; and Pratik Dahal is the son of Tiken Dahal from Leimakhong.
