Hills Academy clinch Lt Col Robert TA Football Tournament 2025 title

The fourth edition of the Late Lieutenant Colonel Robert TA Memorial Open Football Tournament, organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur, concluded successfully on 22nd February 2025, following an intense and captivating 18-day competition that commenced on 4th February 2025 .
The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, honoured the occasion as the chief guest, adding prestige to the grand finale.
Also in attendance were several distinguished dignitaries, including Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, Major General Suresh Bhambu, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East), and Brigadier Bikram Saini, Commander of 22 Sector Assam Rifles.
A particularly poignant presence was that of Chingpai Rangnamai, wife of the late Lieutenant Colonel Robert TA, whose dedication and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this tournament to life.
The highly anticipated final match saw Hills United FC face off against Hills Academy FC in a thrilling contest that showcased outstanding skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
In a dramatic and closely fought encounter, Hills Academy FC emerged victorious, clinching the championship title with a 3-2 victory.
As part of its Civic Action Programme, Assam Rifles sponsored prizes recognising both team achievements and individual excellence, with quarterfinalist teams receiving Rs 15,000 each, semifinalists Rs 30,000 each, and individual awards of Rs 10,000 and a mountain bike for best goalkeeper (Mustakin, Hills United FC), highest goal scorer (John, Asufii U-17 FC, 9 goals), and best player of the tournament (George) .
The runners-up, Hills United FC, were awarded Rs 1.5 lakh, while Hills Academy FC, as champions, received Rs 3 lakh.
Assam Rifles expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Senapati community and acknowledged the tireless efforts of all involved, emphasising that the tournament serves as a fitting tribute to Lieutenant Colonel Robert TA's legacy and his enduring passion for football.
