The 67th State Masters Veteran Badminton Championships concluded on Saturday, with veteran athletes showcasing remarkable skill across age categories.
Organised by the Manipur Badminton Association, the three-day event saw fierce competition in men's doubles (MD men's singles (MS), women's singles (WS), and mixed doubles (XD) events, with players aged 35 to 70 vying for glory.
In the men's doubles 70+ category, Hijam Parun Singh and N Rajen Singh (I/W) claimed gold, while the MD 65+ title went to Chingshubam Birrol Singh and Leishangthem Kumar (Sl/Wh) .
Laishram Krishnakumar Singh emerged as a double champion, securing wins in both MD 45+ (with Lukram Ramesh Singh) and XD 45+ (partnering Ina-khunbi Pheiroijam).
Kshetrimayum Devjit Singh (I/W) dominated the MD 40+ and MS 40+ categories, highlighting his versatility.
Inakhunbi Pheiroijam (I/W) triumphed in WS 45+, adding to her mixed doubles success.
In the men's doubles 55+ category, Maisnam Romesh Luwang and Maisnam Somen Singh (I/W/MPSC) clinched gold, while Khwairakgam Rajesh Singh (I/W) triumphed in the men's singles 50+ event against Mayengbam Surjit Singh.
Meanwhile, Inakhunbi Pheiroijam (I/W) showcased dominance by securing the women's singles 45+ title, further highlighting her stellar performance across disciplines.
Younger veterans also impressed, with Sanjenbam Ningthoujao (I/W) clinching the MS 35+ title, while Konthoujam Thomas Singh and Sanjenbam Ningthouji (E/I/W) took gold in MD 35+ .
Notably, W Amusana Meitei (I/E) claimed dual medals, winning MS 60+ and MD 60+ (with Toijam Nirai) .
