Assam Rifles organises 'Run Chandel Run' marathon

Imphal, March 19 2025:
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the District Sports Association (DSA) Chandel, Wisecrabs, Lakshya Academy, REACHA Foundation, and local authorities, successfully organised the 4th edition of the 'Run Chandel Run' marathon on March 15, 2025.Held under the theme "Chandel Runs for Peace and Unity," the event aimed to foster harmony and well-being across Manipur, particularly in the aspirational district of Chandel.
Brigadier Robeen Chatterjee, Deputy Inspector General of 26 Sector Assam Rifles, inaugurated the marathon, emphasising the role of sports in uniting communities and promoting fitness.
Over 800 participants, including students, athletes, security personnel, and fitness enthusiasts, competed in four categories: Below 16 Boys and Girls, Open Category Male and Female, Above 45 Dream Run, and a 12 km Open Cross Country.
The race concluded at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, where Brigadier Chatterjee expressed gratitude to the participants and reaffirmed Assam Rifles' commitment to fostering peace and fitness in Manipur.
The event featured medical support, hydration stations, and cultural performances at the closing ceremony.
The marathon was a resounding success, reinforcing Assam Rifles' dedication to restoring normalcy, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and encouraging communal harmony.
Inspired by its impact, the organisers plan to continue such initiatives to further the message of peace and a drug-free society.
The winners of the Run Chandel Run event across various categories are as follows:
In the U-16 boys category, KL Changde secured first place, followed by Goodphangam Monsang in second and Sheltering in third.
In the girls category, M Thadoi Chanu claimed the top position, with Khiringrang and Nengneil-hang finishing second and third, respectively.
For the Dream Run, in the male category, ST Kosen emerged victorious, with Par-pa John and Khulvar Rengthlung taking second and third places.
In the female category, Th Shila Devi took first place, while D Alina Lamkang finished second.
In the open 5km race, the male category was led by Sumjirkhup Aimol, followed by Kashudlung Newmei in second place and Calvin Singh in third.
On the female side, Th Ranjita secured first place, with Sarita and Chantha Maku finishing second and third, respectively.
For the 12km Open category, the male winners were Deko in first place, W Strongman in second, and Md Badaruddin in third.
Among the female competitors, Manisha Teshipun clinched the top spot, while Caroline Lamkang and Pipakhurim Dangshawa finished second and third, respectively.
