Cricket: State girls beat Arunachal to reach NE Rising Cup semifinals

Manipur ensured their place in the semifinals of the North East Rising Cup 2025 (U-15 Girls), with a four-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh in their encounter on Saturday at ACA Cricket Academy Ground, Fulung, Guwahati.
After electing to bat, Arunachal Pradesh struggled to build momentum, posting a modest total of 89 runs in 31.4 overs.
Their innings was marked by a flurry of extras (48 in total), with only Tarak Yai (17 off 40 balls) and Ann (11 off 50) reaching double figures.
The state bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, spearheaded by Farjiya, who claimed 3 wickets for just 12 runs.
Sagatpam Henthoibi and Laitonjam Benita Devi contributed with two wickets apiece, keeping the opposition under constant pressure.
In reply, Manipur chased down the target in 23 overs, finishing at 92 for 6.Wicketkeeper-batter Viviene Laishram starred with a quickfire 31 off 31 deliveries, including four boundaries and a six.
Despite a few setbacks in the middle order, Manipur's lower order held firm, with Nazmin Khanam (11 not out) and captain Laishram Bigyapati Devi (2 not out) guiding their side to victory.
Among the standout performers, Farjiya's economical spell of 6 overs with 3 wick -ets earned her praise, while Viviene Laishram's all-round display provided the batting backbone for the winning side.
With this result, Manipur finished second in Group A, earning their spot in the last four, where they will face Group B winners.
