Imphal, May 16 2025:
RCA booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 3rd MNCA Men's U-19 One Day Trophy with a dominant 77-run win over PTRC at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal, on Friday.
Opting to bat, RCA posted a competitive total before their bowlers dismantled the opposition with clinical precision.
RCA set a target of 154/9 in their allotted 40 overs, thanks to a spirited innings from Zamir Khan, who top-scored with a brisk 42 off 43 deliveries, including five boundaries and a six.
Contributions from Md Anush and Md Safwan Ahamed (both scoring 16) provided stability, though the innings was punctuated by regular wickets.
PTRC's bowlers kept the pressure on, with captain Tamarland Pheiroijam leading the charge, claiming 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his 8 overs.
Henba Paonam (2/35) and Bush Sagolsem (1/26) also chipped in, but RCA's lower order ensured a defendable total.
In reply, PTRC's batting lineup crumbled, bowled out for a meagre 77 in 24.2 overs.
Zuned was the star with the ball, delivering a sensational spell of 5 wickets for just 13 runs, including a miserly economy of 2.05 .
Naesh Hussain, RCA's captain, supported with 2/13, while' Zamir Khan added two scalps to his earlier batting heroics.
PTRC's innings never gained momentum, with only Salam Richie (13) and Laiton-jam James Singh (11) reaching double figures.
The team's inability to handle RCA's disciplined bowling attack sealed their fate, as wickets fell at regular intervals.
