9th NE Veteran Badminton C'ship : Biswajit-led Manipur team crowned overall champions

Imphal, May 13 2025: State Badminton team led by Thongju Assembly Constituency MLA Thongam Biswajit were crowned the overall champions at the Yonex Sunrise 9th North East Veteran Badminton Championship that concluded yesterday at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium in Guwahati.

Manipur fielded a strong team of 28 players and won as many as 2 gold and 2 bronze medals to finish on top in the three day championship that saw participation of more than 200 athletes from across the North East States in 7 different categories.

The gold medallists include the pair of L Krishnakumar and Kshetrimayum Devjeet in the men's 40+ doubles event and W Amusana and Sambhulal Pradhan in the men's 55+ doubles event.

Meanwhile the pair of K Thomas and Ningthoujao and Y Samarendra and N Biren settled for the bronze medals in the 35+ and 60+ category competitions respectively.

MLA Thongam Biswajit and others ended their campaigns in the quarterfinal rounds.

Mizoram and Nagaland respectively won a gold medal and a bronze medal apiece in the championship.
