Imphal, August 20 2025: D Chess Academy (DCA), Uripok Khoisnam Leikai will organise the 2nd DCA Inter School Chess Tournament 2025 at Heritage Convent, Uripok Bachaspati Leikai on September 28 and 30 .

Addressing the media at the DCA's Tera Sapam Leirak Branch office on Wednesday, DCA head coach Yambem Dhanabir termed as disheartening for chess players in the state that the government has neither been extending support for development and promotion of chess nor taking the initiative to settle dispute besieging the parent organisation.

Expressing confidence that conduct of the chess tournament will help boost academic career of students by increasing their IQ as well as develop the sports in the state, he appealed to the students to participate in the tournament.

Y Dhanabir also informed that the tournament will have total prize money of Rs 40,500 with competition to be conducted in three categories namely King Group (class IX-XII), Queen Group (class V-VIII) and Knight Group (class IV and below).

He said the top five winners in each category will be awarded cash prize of Rs 5500, Rs 3500, Rs 2000, Rs 1500 and Rs 1000 and trophy, along with titles of Best Girls, Best Boys, Best DCA Boys & Girls, Best Heritage Convent, Best Unrated and Overall Best School.

The entry fee will be Rs 400 each, with exception of IDP students, Dhanabir said, adding that the last date for submission of entry is September 20 .
