MNCA Men's U-23: AKSDO crush RULE, YWC beat PTRC

Imphal, March 19 2025:
AKSDO delivered a commanding performance to defeat RULE by 142 runs in the 2nd MNCA Men's U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-III Cherapur on Wednesday.
AKSDO won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a formidable total of 294 runs in their allotted 40 overs.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, AKSDO's batsmen put up a strong fight, with standout performances from Saikhom Kaiku Meetei, who scored a blistering 73 off just 39 balls, and Laishram Samson Meetei, who contributed a solid 62 runs.
Bishopjit Mangang also chipped in with a valuable 48 runs.
RULE's bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive batting, with Seram Indrakumar and Sanjenbam Suresh taking three wickets each.
However, the highlight of the bowling innings was Sanayai Ningthoujam, who delivered a remarkable spell, taking 7 wickets for just 27 runs in his 8 overs, including a maiden.
In response, RULE'S batting lineup faltered under the pressure of the chase.
Jay Singh tried to anchor the innings with a well-made 67, but the rest of the batsmen failed to provide substantial support.
The team was eventually bowled out for 152 runs in 35.5 overs, falling well short of the target.
Sanayai Ningthoujam was the star with the ball for AKSDO, finishing with an impressive 7-wicket haul.
His disciplined bowling, combined with tight spells from other bowlers, ensured that RULE Meitram never got into the game.
In the day's other match, YWC emerged victorious by 2 wickets against PTRC at Khudeiband Lampak, Taothong (Lamshang).
YWC chased down a target of 140 runs in 25.1 overs after PTRC were bowled out for 139 in 32.4 overs.
PTRC's innings was anchored by Jotin Singh Pheiroijam, who scored a brisk 51 off 43 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Laitonjam James Singh also contributed with a quickfire 27 off 20 balls.
However, YWC's bowlers, led by Heishnam Manikanta (3/21) and Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba (3/24), kept the pressure on, restricting PTRC to a modest total.
In reply, YWC's chase was spearheaded by Heishnam Manikanta, who scored a steady 43 off 59 balls.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, YWC managed to reach the target with 2 wickets to spare, thanks to crucial contributions from Yumnam Athouba (13*) and Rickymenan Thokchom (2*) .
Tamarland Pheiroijam was the pick of the bowlers for PTRC, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs.
