Wangoi FC crowned TKWA Trophy champs after coin toss decision

Thoubal, June 15 2025: Wangoi FC emerged as the champions of the TKWA Trophy 2023-25 after a dramatic final against Chajing FC, held at the Multiplex Playground, Tentha, on Sunday.

The tightly contested match ended in a goalless draw at full time, leading to a penalty shootout in which all nine players from both sides successfully converted their spot-kicks.

With no winner determined after regulation time and penalties, the title was ultimately decided by a coin toss, which favoured Wangoi FC.

As tournament champions, Wangoi FC were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh, a trophy, and medals.

Runners-up Chajing FC received Rs 1 lakh, along with a trophy and medals.

Individual honours included best player for Wangoi FC's N Pritam, best goalkeeper for Chajing FC's Jetli, and best defender for Wangoi FC's Delton.

The top scorer award was shared among six players, while seven others were recognised as emerging players of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including MP (inner Manipur) Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam as the chief guest.

MLA Khundrakpam Th Lokeshwar served as the event's president, with MLA Khangabok Okram Surjakumar, former minister Dr Moirangthem Nara, Moirangthem Hemanta, and Manipur State Shumang Leela advisor Luwangthem Tarpon Singh attending as guests of honour.
