Imphal, July 13 2025: Manipur's A Surjit Meitei has been appointed as the coach of the Indian judo team for the Asian Judo Championship 2025 in Chinese Taipei (July 13-17) .

India is fielding a young squad, with Manipur making a notable contribution to the national contingent.

Four young judokas from Manipur were originally selected to represent India.

However, due to injuries, only two female athletes were able to participate in the competition.

The two participants, Khuyenthem Monika Devi in the under-63 kg category and Bipiliya Yumnam in the under-70 kg category, are competing under the guidance of coach A Surjit Meitei, who is also from Mayang Imphal Anilongbi in Imphal West district.
