Imphal, July 06 2025:
FC Raengdai outclassed Angtha FC as ABA edge past SSU in Sunday's 2nd Premier League clashes at SAI Ground, Takyel.
FC Raengdai delivered a commanding second half performance to secure a resounding 3-1 victory over Angtha FC in Sunday's Premier League encounter.
The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both sides trading attacks but failing to break the deadlock, leaving the scoreline goalless at the interval.
However, after the break, Raengdai emerged with renewed intent, taking control of the match with a dominant display.
The breakthrough came in the 61st minute when Hemam Bijio broke through Angtha's defence and clinically finished to put Raengdai ahead.
Angtha fought valiantly for an equaliser, but their efforts were undone in the 83rd minute when Laishram Bikramjit doubled Raengdai's lead with a swift counter-attack.
Wangkhem Loyangamba gave Angtha a glimmer of hope by pulling one back in the 86th minute, but any hopes of a late comeback were dashed in stoppage time as Shoraishan Sagar restored Raengdai's two-goal advantage, sealing a well-deserved victory.
Meanwhile, ABA FC laboured to a hard-fought 2-1 win over SSU in a closely contested match.
M Isaya got ABA off to a flying start, opening the scoring in just the 5th minute.
However, SSU responded before half-time when Sorokhaibam Amitkumar converted a penalty in the 43rd minute to level the score.
Isaya proved decisive once again, restoring ABA's lead just a minute later with his second goal of the game, ensuring his side went into half-time with a slender 2-1 advantage.
The second half saw both teams push for goals, with end-to-end action and several near misses, but neither side could find the net again.
ABA's resilient defending ensured they held on for a narrow victory, claiming all three points in a fiercely competitive encounter.
