Best boxer titlist M Lanchenba feted

Kakching, June 30 2025: A public felicitation programme was held on Monday for Moibungkhongbam Lanchenba, who not only won a gold medal but was also adjudged the Best Boxer at the 6th Junior National Boxing Championship for Boys and Girls held in Haryana.

Lanchenba is the youngest son of M Gouramani and Sunitibala of Wangoo Kashartabi (Cachartabi) under Sugnu assembly constituency.

The felicitation programme was organised by Wangoo Kashartabi Youth Club (WKYC) and Meira Paibi Lup, during which the Lup also presented cash prize to Lanchenba.

In his brief address, Lanchenba recounted that his first training was under Narendra of Sugnu, followed by stints at SAI and Mary Kom Boxing Academy.

Lanchenba conceded that he initially felt intimidated by the Services boxer in the title fight but gained in confidence after the second round and eventually sealed the bout and title, eventually earning him the best boxer title.

Further informing that he has been selected in the Indian team for the Youth Asian Games, Lanchenba appealed to the public to extend support and encourage him bring more laurels for Manipur.
